The Bible Has The Answer!

It never ceases to amaze me how times have really changed.  Having been born during the late fifties, so much change has occurred from the first IBM computer as large as a room to a computer with a much faster processor in our cellular phones.  It logically would seem that these advancements would mirror moral, civil, and human governmental advancements amongst mankind as well; sadly, this isn’t the case.

There is a myriad of alarming statistics that affirm there is major moral degradation and erosion occurring across the world.  Carnage and brutality are graphically displayed on the news daily even as maniacal leaders attack their own countrymen, who simply desire freedom and equality.  Here at home, we are enthralled in a viscous partisan political war, which has served to only divide our great country rather than unify it.  With unity we could overcome every problem living by the statement printed on our money which says; “In God We Trust”.  Wouldn’t it be awesome if we truly trusted him?  Imagine a government that prayed for the Lord’s guidance before all decisions were made.  Imagine a nation whose leaders would call for a fast when economic collapse is impending.  Imagine a nation where all the rich would be willing to help the poor and not revel in massive opulence while many are starving.

Well, I could write line after line about the problems we face, but instead I would like to provide the solution.  The Bible says in Acts 2:42-47;

Acts 2:42-47

42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.  46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

There are quite a few lessons we can learn from the preceding verses:

         Their leaders were followers of Christ and taught the principles of the Kingdom

         The people obeyed the teaching of their leadership, so there was an established trust level from both parties

         The supernatural was a natural experience

         They were in absolute unity

         They shared their possessions, ensuring that no one was lacking, and no one was hungry

         Other people admired what they saw happening amongst them

         They grew immensely

In conclusion, considering the biblical account, I can’t help but see how this is the answer to our contemporary needs.  It was a time of political unrest during the time of Jesus because Rome’s government was ruled by an emperor named Tiberius Caesar who was known to be a dark, somber, and reclusive leader who never desired to be emperor.  This certainly sheds light on the state of their union because as the leader is so follows the nation.  Proverbs 14:34 says; “Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.”   Consequently, there was a darkness and pervasive oppression upon all of people, especially the Jews.  So the Lord God provided the answer to all of man’s problems through the sacrifice of his only begotten son, “Jesus Christ”.  Please know that no matter what you are facing or even suffering now, Jesus loves you and he is calling you to accept this unconditional love.
